First Baptist Church is a Teaching Church. Our Pastor holds a Ph.D. in African American Studies from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and now serves as Dean of African American Studies at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. One of Pastor Hicks' first initiatives at First Baptist was to create The Nia Academy. Classes are offered throughout the year to develop Christians who seek to study to show themselves approved unto God.
